So, being unemployed leads to a hell of a lot of boredom. This in turn leads to browsing the web for hours, ending up in odd places and seeing weird things that pique my curiosity a little too much.

I don't mean just browsing WickerPedia and finding little odd facts like some rare animal is now extinct on some pacific atoll because of a US nuclear test years and years ago. I mean going from reading RSS feeds with Google Reader, clicking through to various articles, links, perhaps an advertisement or two, seeing some odd video on YouTube, then trying to find out the name of the song, then finding out what you THOUGHT was a band name, turns out to be the name of a commercial product created by Yamaha to make synthetic songs!

I speak of course of Vocaloid, which seems to be extremely popular over in Japan, where there are tons of songs created with it, some of them extremely good. One of the most popular voices (of the 5 or 6 that vocaloid has) is one called Hatsune Miku which I can't seem to get enough of... I even registered for an account on NicoNico just so I could listen to more.

An example of many of the better songs is in an 80 minute medley (registration is required unfortunately) compiled by another user. One of my favorites is Innocence (via YouTube) which someone took the time to fully animate in awesome 3D.

Anyway, on a more art-related note, I am still working on my SVG stuff like:



One of the things I invested in this year was a Wacom tablet so I can actually get more done easier.

I know this was on here before, but it's one I have been working on for years (literally). I've been using it to experiment with new things and techniques to help me work faster or add new effects like Depth of Field:



I may end up doing some Hatsune Miku fan art soon too. That should be weird, no?

I hate blogging, so I can't believe I just wrote all that. I'm so bored. Nobody reads my journals anyway
